Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Quantum communication is emerging as one of the most significant directions in next-generation information and communication technologies. By exploiting quantum mechanical properties such as superposition, entanglement, and the no-cloning principle, it offers new ways to transmit, protect, and process information beyond the limits of conventional communication systems. In particular, quantum key distribution, entanglement-assisted communication, and quantum teleportation are opening a pathway towards communication infrastructures with stronger security guarantees, higher trustworthiness, and new service capabilities for future digital societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent progress in photonic devices, single-photon sources and detectors, integrated quantum circuits, quantum repeaters, satellite and free-space links, and fibre-based quantum networks has accelerated the development of practical quantum communication systems. At the same time, important research challenges remain, including channel loss, decoherence, scalability, network control, interoperability with classical networks, security certification, and the integration of quantum communication with 6G, cloud computing, edge intelligence, and emerging cybersecurity frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This special session aims to bring together researchers, engineers, and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss recent advances, open challenges, and future research directions in quantum communication. The session welcomes both theoretical and experimental contributions, as well as interdisciplinary work that connects quantum information science with modern communication networks, signal processing, photonics, and secure digital infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">II. Scope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on the rapid development of quantum technologies, we propose a special session that will cover topics including, but not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum cryptography, and information-theoretic security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entanglement distribution, quantum teleportation, and quantum repeaters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quantum networks, quantum internet architectures, and protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free-space, satellite-based, underwater, and fibre-optic quantum communication systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Single-photon sources, quantum detectors, integrated photonics, and enabling hardware technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Channel modelling, signal processing, coding, modulation, and resource allocation for quantum communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coexistence and integration of quantum communication with classical optical networks, 5G\/6G, IoT, cloud, and edge platforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Security analysis, authentication, standardisation, testbeds, and practical deployment issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Machine learning, optimisation, and artificial intelligence for quantum communication and quantum networks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications of quantum communication in critical infrastructure, finance, healthcare, smart cities, aerospace, and defence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">III.
